STORY
We Will Be the World Champions is a story about the four pioneers whose merit is the development of basketball in their homeland and in Europe. The central event is the final game in the 1970 World Championship in Ljubljana, between the teams of Yugoslavia and the United States. We follow the growth and life path of enthusiasts, whose professional work, ideas and efforts made their major dream come true. They won the first gold medal for Yugoslavia in world championships.The story about the founders of the famous Yugoslav Basketball School and the first gold medal in the World Championship is based on real events and is dedicated to to the four men who have contributed to the rise and development of basketball in their country.
MY ROLE: ALJOŠA ŽORGA
In the team that brought the first gold medal to Yugoslav basketball were also two Slovenians – the captain Ivo Daneu and Aljosa Zorga, who ruled under the baskets in the year 1970. In that year Olimpija won their last championship and he was the best scorer in the league. With his outstanding perfomance young Aljosa earned his place in the team and despite the fact that he wasn't participating on the court against the USA, he left a mark in the 1970 World Championship. After a few meetings with Aljosa I quickly figured out what a courageous and dedicated man he is, which was indeed notable also on the court.CREW
